Counting Down to G-Day in 135

January 29, 2014

I have a really bad track record with New Year resolutions. As in, I can’t even remember if I made one last year. Three hundred and sixty-five days is too long for me to hold myself too. It seems like a long time, and it did feel like a long time when I wrote my first countdown post.

As of January 1, 2014, I have approximately one hundred and thirty-five days until commencement which equals one semester left of college. And then two hundred and thirty days of doing I don’t know what for the remainder of 2014. Does anyone else see the irony in being a tarot reader who doesn’t know her own future?

In spirit of this unknowable-ness that is my future, I give myself until graduation (G-Day) to fulfill. Maybe with a closer deadline and the Green Room bloggers, I can keep to it my second G-word: goals.

  • Raise money for a local woman’s shelter through our annual production of The Vagina Monologues.
  • Put together a video reel with footage from my upcoming film class but also hopefully from a student film I hope to be cast in.
  • Get cast in the student film!
  • Have headshots done.
  • Pass my three SPTs in Broadsword, Knife and re-test in Single Sword before finally applying for Actor-Combatant status with the Society of American Fight Directors.
  • Have work lined up before graduation.
  • Enjoy every little moment of every day until I graduate.

That’s all for January – May 2014. Here’s what I’ve got planned for the rest of that year: figure it out. I want to use this year to figure out what I want to do and where am I going to go to do that. I’ve already narrowed down the where and what – now I got to decide HOW am I going to do just that.

Step One: work for theatre companies offering pay and housing so I’ll have a place to stay while I save up for the where.

Step Two: use the time I’m working to figure it out before 2015 – I want to celebrate the New Year in my new home out there in the real world.

Hold on, Green Room Blog readers – it’s going to be one crazy semester.

I vividly remember how terrifying it was to leave the safeness of the college bubble and graduate into the big, bad world. Consolation? It’s not as hard as you think it will be, and it can be a lot of fun out here 🙂

Enjoy your last semester and get ready for the really exciting stuff to start!

🙂 Once I’ve made the final decisions and signed the paperwork – maybe by next week? Exciting stuff is happening!
